Looked awesome, real tough coffee cup. I holds up just ok though, dings and chips easily when banged around during commute. It’s not dishwasher safe, nor does it claim to be. Results in loosening of some of the plastic seals. My biggest complaint with this cup is that it only keeps beverages hot for 30-45 mins, it’s just not that well-insulated. Looks aren’t always what they seem.

I really like the Contigo mugs. They, and many of the Starbucks mugs, are the only ones I’ve found that do a really good job of keeping drinks hot or cold. The less expensive ones, and the travel mugs sold all over for $10 or $15 are cute, but are no better than a regular glass or cup at keeping things at temperature.
Pros – The Contigo sportier mug with the Caribineer Clip is a cooler looking and more comfortable mug. The top has a more comfortable and familiar feel to the mouth for drinking out of. And the base has a rubber pad so that it won’t scratch sensitive surfaces. It also doesn’t clang when you put it down on something hard. Somehow the grip feels more comfortable too.
Cons – The lid has a pop up seal, something like the soda can. It’s kind of stiff and clumsy. The other style Contigo mugs have a self sealing feature that is really great. Works perfect, effortlessly. And the other style mug has a more natural mouth feel.
Someday, they’ll put a rubber pad on the bottom of the non-caribineer style, deepen the bowl on the lid for more comfortable drinking, and they’ll have a perfect travel mug.

My wife found these mugs about 3 years ago, and bought us each one. I travel constantly and work in a variety of environments, indoors and out with the military and I have tried dozens of travel mugs and I had given up in the search for anything that I could do more with than put in the cup holder in my truck and hope that it did not leak as I went around turns. These Contigo mugs have been FANTASTIC, you can go anywhere with them and have no fear of them leaking, you can throw them on the floor, hook them to your backpack and head into the woods, or fill them with hot coffee, hold them upside-down over your head and shake them and have no worries. They are also great little thermoses, the caribineer is a great addition and makes them even more versatile. Now, 3 years later most everyone I work with has one or more, my wife and I have a shelf full of them (8) in various colors and they make a great $20 gift for any occasion.

I thought I found the perfect travel mug, until I used it a few times and discovered that it will never be clean. The rim traps liquid then it drips back down later. I use milk in my coffee and this mug constantly smells like sour milk no matter how much I scour with a bottle brush and sponge, then rinse several times.
After cleaning, it always releases a dirty liquid which is disgusting. It is so unsanitary I am throwing it away.
If you do buy this, make sure to dry standing up.

I bought this as a gift to replace an earlier one that he wore out after daily use for 5 years.
